CAST BIOS

John Craig Johnson (Andrée) has been praised internationally by Opera News as a distinguished voice of "solid technical facility and impressive, rich, singing." He has performed over forty operatic roles on stage, with the Los Angeles Times calling him “very appealing” and a singer who “handled roles with honor and conviction.” He has sung principal roles with Los Angeles Opera Voices of California, Long Beach Opera, Orange County Opera, Opera de Tijuana, and the San Bernardino, Bakersfield, and Palisades Symphonies. He has been heralded as "the star of the evening . . . deliciously comic and richly sung" by the Pasadena Star for his Papageno in Die Zauberflöte. He is an associate professor of music at PLNU and serves as Musical Director / Administrator for Point Loma Opera Theatre. 

Ruff Yeager (Frænkel ) has credits that include: Love’s Labour’s Lost, Anything Goes – Utah Shakespeare Festival; The Threepenny Opera, Romance, King Lear, A Christmas Carol - San Diego Repertory Theatre; Now You See It, What's Wrong With This Picture - North Coast Repertory Theatre. San Diego: I Hate Hamlet, Much Ado About Nothing – Intrepid Shakespeare Company Trouble in Mind - Moxie Theatre; Passion, Grey Gardens, Wonder Wounded Heroes – Ion Theatre; Lear on the 2nd Floor, The Threepenny Opera – Kallisti Vocal Ensemble, UCSD; The Man Who Came to Dinner – Coronado Playhouse; The Dream Play, Berzerkergang, The Frankenstein Project 2.0, Phaedra in Delirium – Sledgehammer Theatre.

Jack French (Strindberg) is a senior music major at Point Loma Nazarene University and is honored to be making his CITY Opera Debut. Performance credits include: The Mikado: il cappello di Firenza, Don Giovanni, Die Fledermaus and Dido and Aeneas, all with Point Loma Opera Theatre, Blue Monday  with Opera de Tijuana, and Princess Ida  with Bodhi Tree Concerts as well as serving as a soloist for Bach’s B Minor Mass  and Handel’s Messiah both with Point Loma Choral Union. 

Todd Moellenberg (Pianist) is a musician and performance artist based in San Diego, currently pursuing his Doctor of Musical Arts in contemporary piano performance at UC San Diego, where he studies with Aleck Karis. He received his Bachelor of Music from the University of Texas at Austin and Master of Arts from UCSD. Todd has performed with the Palimpsest Ensemble, the University of Texas New Music Ensemble, the La Jolla Symphony, the Ensemble Exchange, the What's Next? Ensemble, as principal accompanist of the San Diego Gay Men's Chorus, and in fellowships at Boston University and the New England Conservatory. More information can be found at toddpiano.com
