San Diego Dances at Bread and Salt

City Opera teams up with The PKG Project to present a selection from the world-premiere City Opera production of "Queen of Carthage".

The PGK Dance Project brings its popular program, San Diego Dances that moves world class dance and audiences throughout the county in unexpected, affordable ways to Bread & Salt in Logan Heights and performs choreographic works by Peter G. Kalivas in collaboration with spoken word artist Nate Howard of Movement BE, Blythe BartonRosalia LernerKim T. Davis, and collaboration conceived and directed by Kalivas for Flamenco artist Kristina Cobarubbia, classical Indian artist Divya Devaguptapu and Tap dancer John Paul Lawson with additional performances and choreography by somebodies dance theaterAnjanette Maraya-Ramey and Viviana Alcazar-Haynes and their respective dancers.  The program also includes a “live” music performance by Rayme Sciaroni, Peter Kalivas and dance/film installation.

Doors open one hour in advance of performances for people to tour the vast former Bread Factory and enjoy drinks and snacks provided by nearby Logan Heights vendors.

Friday and Saturday evening, March 6 and 7th at 730pm and Sunday matinee March 8th at 2pm.  In honor of Women’s History Month, artwork and a film installation also occur including the world known dance film featuring a original Graham dancer, “Frances Wessels: A Portrait of 89 Years” created by Jason Akira Somma, also curated by Peter Kalivas.
